Free Evening Bus Tours Through Phuket Old Town

One of the highlights of Phuket Museum Night is a free nightly guided tour around Old Town aboard a classic local bus. Traditionally known as a song-taew, locals also call it “po-thong”—a wooden-bodied pickup that has become a symbol of Phuket’s past.

According to the official announcement from Museum Phuket, this year’s route will take participants on a nostalgic nighttime journey through the city. Guests will explore museums, discover modern art installations, and listen to stories about Phuket’s multicultural heritage.

Visitors are invited to become “night detectives,” slowing down to observe architectural details, hidden symbols on historic buildings, and stories of spiritual beliefs and material wealth that shaped Phuket’s old communities.

The cultural bus tour will stop at the following key locations:

1. Phuket Museum – The starting point and main historical museum of Phuket Town.
2. Phuket Thai Hua Museum – Showcasing art, music, poetry, and the lifestyle of Chinese immigrants.
3. Bang Neow Community Museum – A school museum highlighting the lives of early Chinese settlers.
4. Chinpracha House Museum – A preserved Sino-Portuguese mansion reflecting Phuket’s golden era.
